Welcome to Portland!

Thank you for visiting the City of Portland's website. Here you will find information about our community and our city's services.

Portland is a city of 6,200 people. Our strongest asset is our citizens who participate in our churches, civic clubs, and recreational programs. Together we are working to build and strengthen our community. The challenge is to encourage quality growth while preserving our down-home character.

The Jay County Chamber of Commerce, City offices of Portland, and local businesses continue to support and encourage one another in service to our residents and businesses.

The City of Portland takes pride in its annual events such as the Gathering of the Great Lakes Nation Pow Wow, July 4th Celebration, Vintage Motor Bike Show, Jay County Fair, the world’s largest Antique Tractor and Engine Show. They all strive to bring us together as a community as well as bring in visitors from all over the world.

Portland is where the past, present, and future converge in one of the best locations in the state of Indiana. Located 50 miles south of Fort Wayne and 90 miles northeast of our state capital, Indianapolis. Whether you are a new resident, a visitor, or a business looking for a place to grow, you have come to the right place.
