The Portland Water Park is accepting applications for CERTIFIED lifeguards for the 2025 season.  The guards need to be certified in Lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid Training and Aquatic Attraction.  Starting rate for lifeguards will be paid $14 hr. with additional pay for returning guards based on prior year of service. Indiana 211 has been activated for Jay County residents. The assessments completed by Jay County EMA staff immediately following the storm were initial and commonly called a windshield assessment. This allowed EMA staff to gather estimates to provide to the state to show the need for services such as 211. Street Paving
The City of Portland recently received a 50/50 Community Crossings Matching Grant in the amount of $239,205.00.  The grant money will be used for resurfacing of Industrial Drive and Wayne Street with the addition on updating curb ramps.  It is estimated that this project will start early summer and be completed by early fall.
