City Construction Updates
Phase III of Hudson Family Park’s development is right on schedule. Final seeding was completed and the spring rains have established a good cover of turf throughout the park. As well the pond is filling up appropriately. Construction of the Phase IV is about to begin as design is now complete and bids from contractors have been received. The park amenities envisioned in the original master plan for construction in the final phase include a the totally accessible playground area, a large picnic shelter, a trail system throughout, landscaping, and completion of the amphitheatre stage including a roof structure to cover the stage, towers and wiring for lighting and sound, permanent and lawn seating areas, and a concession building with restrooms. Construction is planned to begin this summer of 2010.
The Lafayette Street Extension project is planned for construction in 2011. The project development continues as we near completion of the Environmental Document which will be followed by a Public Hearing to provide the citizens of Portland the opportunity to see the planned improvements and share their comments with the City representatives. The finished roadway will provide improved access to the new Katelynn Place Apartments as well as the Portland Place Senior Housing and the City Park on Lafayette Street.
